PRIVATE YOGA CLASSES ARE FOR EVERYONE✨ Yup, you heard that right! Private yoga classes can be a valuable addition to your yoga practice - it doesn039;t matter if you are practicing yoga for a long time, or just started.🧘♂️ Over the years I039;ve worked with a lot of amazing people, from construction workers to people recovering from motorcycle- & car-accidents. I039;ve worked with people who had a really busy work schedule, which meant they couldn039;t come to regular classes and with people who were enjoying their retirement, but wanted to take the yoga practice just a bit slower (while staying mindful in their movements♥️). Yoga, and definitely private yoga classes, are for EVERYONE. It039;s a personal experience, that some of my clients like to describe as "a little gift to themselves".🎁 If you want to know more about private yoga classes, click the link in my bio (I039;ve made a whole page about it on my website :)) or send me a DM!📧 Ps. Did you know you can also book a "private yoga class" with your best friend / partner / room mate?👯 I call it a "duo" private class & I039;m now offering it (temporarily) for the same price as a "regular" private class! Check the link in my bio to find out more 😃.

REST IS IMPORTANT Yesterday I woke up in the middle of the night, noticing a consistent pain in my belly. I wasn039;t feeling unwell or anything, but the pain stayed, no matter how I moved. I noticed that I recognised this pain from a couple of years ago. It was the feeling of my stomach being angry. I still don039;t know what caused the pain (most of the time it is a certain food), but it didn039;t go away in the morning.😧 Stubborn as I can be, I thought, well, I039;m not feeling unwell, I just have a pain, it will go away... and I went on teaching an online yin class for one of my lovely clients.🧘🏼♀️ But the pain didn039;t go away. With every movement in the yin practice, I noticed that thin line between staying professional (as a teacher) and my body screaming that this was not such a good idea. So after my class was finished, I immediately decided to ask my fellow teachers to take over my evening classes. I NEED to practice what I teach (because HELL, why I039;m I teaching to take care of yourself and listen to your body, if I would not allow myself to do the same?). So I did, I did listen. 👂🏻 The pain slowly decreased. It039;s not totally away still, but I feel my body is grateful for taking that little bit of time to slow down, for my cat to give me lots and lots of love (he was extremely clingy all of the sudden) and to reconnect with what my body was telling me.🙏 Rest is just as important as action and being active. Your body will tell you what it needs, it039;s our job to listen.♥️
NEW YOUTUBE CLASS IS OUT🎉 This weeks class is a relaxing Yin Yoga class, in which we travel through our whole entire body. 💤 One hour of bliss, coming right up!✨ Subscribe to stay tuned! (link in bio)🖥️

SCARY ANIMALS Yesterday I met my "taalmaatje" (a language buddy). A beautiful lady from Syria who moved to The Netherlands a couple of years ago and is improving her Dutch along the way. She told me she is scared of both dogs and cats. 🇳🇱 I told her about my cat, who loves to cuddle and how cats tend to "feel" if people are afraid of them. My cat Rufus was a pro, when it came to people that didn039;t like cats or were afraid of cats. Rufus always went straight towards them. 😃 I039;ve never really been afraid of any animal (except for spiders when I was a kid, but I don039;t find them scary anymore). 🕷️ Do you have any animals that you are afraid of?
ASANA TECHNIQUE Tonight I will teach my first Asana Technique in MONTHS 🤩. I’m so excited to finally dive back into the anatomy & details of specific Yoga poses! Tonight we start with the theory about hip mobility & movement, while focussing on Lotus (Padmasana) & its variations. 19:00h tonight @uscleiden ! See you there 🙏🏻

FROM ONLINE TO OFFLINE AGAIN Yup, I039;m so happy with the recent announcements that we can go for both OUTDOOR as well as INDOOR group classes again from the 5th of June onwards.😃 I039;ve really missed seeing the people in my classes move. Noticing their anatomy, their movement, their yoga!💃 Don039;t get me wrong, de lockdown also provided amazing opportunities to try something new within my business; online yoga! 🧘♀️I will continue with offering online classes, although the amount of classes I publish each week will gradually go down. For now; I will continue to teach the Live classes & specials in June, and take a little break from Live classes in July & August (with the exception of the Fierce Fire Flow Challenge! - more info about this challenge follows soon!).💪 Of course I will make a special Summer Membership available as well! So a lot of Yoga classes will stay just "one click away".🖥️ Did you already join a in person (outdoor or private) yoga class recently?🌳 I hope to see you soon!
THE BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT. Around six years ago, I was enrolled in an academic English class, as part of my philosophy studies. I was really nervous about presenting, in English, in front of a big group of students (while I usually don039;t tend to get nervous when speaking in public at all). I did step to the front of the class and finished my presentation.👩🏫 Afterwards the teacher came to me and told me that I "did a great job" and my English was perfectly fine. I started listing the reasons why I thought it didn039;t go that well "but I made a mistake when..., and I was struggling with the pronunciation when talking about....". My teacher stopped me in the middle of my sentence, placed her hand on my shoulder and looked me straight in the eyes. She said: "Aurora, accept the compliment!"😳 I fell quiet. She was right. She pointed out one of my greatest fears, with just a couple of words.🤯 We tend to compare ourselves to others. To think that, whatever we do, it039;s not good enough. Even the people that I looked up to in the past, are now showing me that they have their insecurities as well. We are all just human, which means we make mistakes.❤️ I can039;t say that I find it easy to accept compliments, but the advice that my teacher gave me back then, is helping me to judge myself less and focus on the positive stuff that is right in front of me. 💪 And yes, I039;ve got those days where my anxiety is stronger than these feelings. I am human, after all.😉 ➡️Who039;s someone in your life who gives great advice? Tag them in a comment below!
I039;M PUTTING IT OUT THERE. Yes, I need accountability too. So here I am, putting it out there. My big 90-day goal: to work more with yogi039;s on a 1-to-1 basis (private classes). There you have it. I039;ll check back here in 90 days to update you on how I did with my big 90-day goal! 🧘🏼♀️ Care to share what you hope to accomplish in 3 months time? Let me know in a comment below.
IF MY BOYFRIEND WERE TO DESCRIBE ME.. .. I imagine it039;d be a whole lot of "drinks coffee" and "spends a lot of time behind her computer" and "wears yoga pants, Monday through Friday." But you know what? I039;m okay with that picture. Because how I look isn039;t a reflection of the results I help my yogis get. Results like... developing a coherent practice, taking time for themselves every week & of course addressing physical tension as a result of sitting behind that desk & computer so much 🤫. Want some of these results for yourself? Send me a DM and let039;s chat – yoga pants on and all. 🤩
ABOUT THAT SUNRISE... Earlier this week, I shared a story about the first yin teacher training I did on Ibiza.🧘🏼♀️ Remember that "watching the sun rise from the sea" story? Well... this was it.🌅 Our morning meditation with @ernovandoesselaar, while the sun was rising from the sea. I hope to visit Ibiza again! Either for a personal retreat, training or, who knows, with some of you guys to slow down, do yoga, and relax! 🙏🏻
LOOKING BACK... ...at my journey as a yoga teacher thus far, it has definitely been an amazing "hell of a ride". I039;ve seen myself grow, change & evolve as a teacher, but definitely as a person as well. 😉 This picture was taken in the may 2017 - during my first yin yoga teacher training with @shantiblissibiza . During this teacher training, we were staying in this beautiful villa on top of a mountain. From the villa, we could see the sun rise from the sea every morning. It was such a magical experience ✨ for which I feel so grateful every time I see all of you relaxing in my yin classes. I love to share everything I039;ve learned with you! I hope I can share this Yin practice in person with you again soon! Are you as ready as I am for some real life classes? (Let039;s keep our fingers crossed!) 🙌
TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT Meet Duke, who is our destress & cuddle ninja. 🐈 Long day at the (home)office? Yoga in the living room? Lots of meetings? He is there to enforce the, sometimes much needed, breaks. He comes in, looks around, and doesn039;t leave until he is cuddled & you039;re stress free.✨ Do you have a stress relief expert in your home office? Let me know 😉
EGO VERSUS GUT... WHICH IS MAKING YOUR DECISIONS? You039;ve probably heard me say it hundreds (maybe even a thousand) times, during my yogaclasses; "Notice what your body needs" & "choose the option that suits you TODAY, in this moment!".🤯 I believe there is a difference between making a decision from your gut (or listening to what your body is telling you) versus making a decision based on your ego; this applies as much to your everyday life as to your yoga practice! 🧠 A gut decision will be a reflection of what your intuition is saying. An ego decision will be a reflection of your self-importance. ✨Who is making your decisions for you today? Are you listening to your ego? Or your gut?
YES! MY FIRST EBOOK IS OUT NOW! (Which actually feels quite scary to me, perfectionist much?). On the 1st of May, I had the honour to publish my first eBook, following the "Chakras made Simple" masterclass series. This eBook contains an overview of the characteristics of each of the (main) seven Chakras; from Muladhara to Sahasrara 🤩. It lists the place of the chakras in the body, the physical and emotional connection, asanas that support each chakras energy & more! For everyone who followed my "Chakra Yoga" classes back in the day: this is the theory behind the practice 😃 So how much does it cost? 💰5 euros for My AuroraYoga Members 💰7,50 for Non-Members. Check the link in bio for more info (& to see a preview) or send me a DM if you want to know more! 📧
DEEPEN YOUR FORWARD FOLD... Without straining your (leg) muscles; using a yoga strap 😃. So how does this work? 1️⃣ wrap the yoga strap around the ball of your feet. 2️⃣ keep your knees soft (bend them as much as feels right. Whatever you do, do not lock your knees!) 3️⃣ grab hold of your yoga strap, elbows are bend and shoulders away from the ears. The shoulder blades move slightly down & towards one another to open the chest (lift your sternum). 4️⃣ bring your chin slightly towards the chest to align your neck with the rest of your spine (so yes, even more than I’m doing here!) 5️⃣ deepen your forward fold by actively lifting your butt towards the ceiling (you’re tilting your pelvis, which creates space to fold forward). Keep your core engaged & shoulders away from the ears. 👉 try to keep your back as straight as possible in your forward fold. 6️⃣ release & wiggle to shake of any remaining tension 😃 Note: make sure to warm up before doing this to avoid injury! Any questions? Don’t hesitate to let me know 😃 — 👖: @wegetgoing 🏠: @mylife.voorschoten — #asanatechnique #Yoga #yogateacher #yogadocent #yogabederland #yogaleiden #yogavoorschoten #yogadenhaag #onlineyoga #onlineyogaclasses #myaurorayoga #howtouttanasana #yogaprops #faq #releasetension #hamstringstretch #flexibility #sponsored
