After reaching Double Decker Living Root Bridge I trekked to Rainbow falls. I was really not expecting much as I went in the month of March. But when I saw this beauty I remembered that Meghalaya is amazing!

I apologise for the video quality. This video doesn't show 1% of the beauty. Meghalaya, you are magnificent.

On the way to Double Deckers I met this little champ. Climbing up and down the stairs can be tiresome. After spending few minutes with him it just made my day and I was ready to do another trek! 🤗
I was in love with him but he was in love with my shoes. Also he is a hero among the little children there!

The Living Root Bridge - One of the most talked about places in Meghalaya. The local Khasi tribes have made many bridges with the help of the roots. Double-Decker Bridge is the famous one. As I walked the 3000 steps, I was astonished to see how the villagers embrace and respect nature. Here nature follows you with each step you take.
How beautifully the Indian Rubber Plant trees are planted and when it grows they twist the roots and direct it. And slowly the roots get stronger and so does the bridge. Respect.

Mawryngkhang trek - Finest engineering by the villagers of Wakhen. I reached to the king of stones - U Mawrynkhang by trekking the bamboo bridges constructed at the mountain ridges and down was the Umrew river. The bridges are made of bamboo and rope that's it!
This trek is said to be one of the scariest of all and it is. Your heart skips a beat whenever you walk a step!
The story of U Mawryngkhang is fascinating.

Mawphlang Sacred Forest - 192 acres forest is abide by one strict rule i.e. you cannot take anything from this forest or the deity will be upset. This forest is a religious importance to local khasi tribe.
I believe this is how they are guarding the forest over thousands of years. Respecting their beliefs and the deity I thought of not going inside the forest as I might carry the soil in my shoes. ( Yes, I am an overthinker. ) @meghtourism

David Scott Trail - I started from Mawphlang at 10:30 am and reached the end road that heads to Sohra or Shillong at 3 pm. I hired a local guide, Nangtei, who told me so much about the Khasi culture and the trail. We spoke about tourism, politics, and India.
In this 16 km trail the view will keep on changing to your surprise. River, trees, rocks, streams, bridges, villages and so much more.

Trek to Split Rock - It is said that due to an earthquake a rock got split into two. On the both sides stand the rock; more or less 15m height. During monsoon water gets filled. I went down and walked through a narrow passage. Of course it was not a nice walk. Had to cross over big rocks, climb down, up. Scratched my elbow but did it.
