It was a huge privilege to spend an evening with Tom Lovejoy this week, in Session 3 of The Sustainability Laboratory's inaugural conversation series, Exploring the Sustainability Challenge!

This week's event, Why is Biodiversity so Important?, featured Tom Lovejoy, President of the Amazon Biodiversity Center and a Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation, in conversation with Michael Ben-Eli, founder of The Sustainability Laboratory. This inspiring session took us from the Amazon Rainforest, to the coniferous forests of North America, to the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil, and to our very own backyards, in a discussion about the critical importance of biodiversity in ensuring a healthy, thriving planet. A recording of the event will be made available shortly, on The Sustainability Laboratory's YouTube Channel.

The fourth event in the series, Session 4: Combating Desertification, will take place on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. EDT. The event will feature Uriel Safriel, former Director of the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and former Chair of the Science and Technology Committee of the United Nations Convention on Combatting Desertification, in conversation with Michael Ben-Eli.
